{"id":1831,"date":"2021-07-02T20:11:58","date_gmt":"2021-07-02T17:11:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mus2.com.tr\/docs\/mus2-users-guide\/working-with-midi\/recording\/"},"modified":"2021-11-28T21:12:53","modified_gmt":"2021-11-28T18:12:53","slug":"recording","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/mus2.com.tr\/en\/docs\/mus2-users-guide\/working-with-midi\/recording\/","title":{"rendered":"Recording"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIDI key mappings are associated with each specific <a href=\"https:\/\/mus2.com.tr\/en\/docs\/mus2-users-guide\/tuning\/creating-tunings\/\">tuning<\/a> entry in a score. Make sure you\u2019re using the correct tuning:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the score that you want to record\/paste into, <a href=\"https:\/\/mus2.com.tr\/en\/docs\/mus2-users-guide\/working-with-midi\/microtonal-key-mapping\/\">set up the mapping<\/a> you wish to use in a tuning and give that tuning a unique name, e.g. \u201cBeyati mapped\u201d. (You can also duplicate the tuning before mapping if you wish to keep the original one as is)<\/li>\n<li>Open a MIDI Recording window by choosing <strong>New MIDI Recording<\/strong> from the <strong>File<\/strong> menu and choose the same tuning from the previous step. It\u2019s a good idea to only have the one score open along with the MIDI Recording window and nothing else in Mus2.\n<p class=\"trz-tip\">if you have multiple scores open, multiple tunings of the same name can appear in the recording window. This is why it\u2019s important to give the tuning in step 1 a unique name.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Adjust the recording settings on the toolbar:\n<ul>\n<li>In the <strong>Tempo<\/strong> section, set the tempo you want to record at.<\/li>\n<li>Choose the tuning you want to use for this recording from the <strong>Tuning<\/strong> drop-down.<\/li>\n<li>Select the instrument you want to record with from the <strong>Instrument<\/strong> drop-down.<\/li>\n<li>Set the time signature of the recording in the <strong>Time Signature<\/strong> boxes. The instrument and tempo settings only apply to the current recording window. When you paste the recording to a score, the instrument of the staff and the tempo of the score are used.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click the bar you want to record from in the piano roll. The red recording cursor moves to the new location. Even though you can set a starting point, you can\u00a0 also begin playing at any time while recording. Any empty bars at the beginning of a recording are ignored during transcription.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Click the Record button and start playing your MIDI instrument.<\/li>\n<li>When finished, click the Stop button.<\/li>\n<li>If you want to copy the recording to a grand staff, make sure <strong>Copy To Grand Staff<\/strong> is checked in the Edit menu. When the recording is copied while this option is active, notes above (and including) middle C will be pasted in one staff, while notes below middle C will be pasted in a secondary staff. This allows you to separate a two-handed passage into a grand staff more easily.<\/li>\n<li>To copy the recording to a score, choose <strong>Copy<\/strong> from the Edit menu.<br \/>\nTo copy a part of the recording, select the notes by drawing a rectangle around them. Selected notes appear blue.<br \/>\nTo copy the entire recording, make sure none of the notes are selected.<\/li>\n<li>Switch to the score window and choose <strong>Paste<\/strong> from the edit menu.<br \/>\nThe recording is transcribed and pasted to the first staff in the score.
