3.3.1 VERSION INTRODUCES AN IMPORTANT INNOVATION, MusicXML FILE FORMAT
After months of work, Mus2 and users have completed a very important update.
Until now, only files in different formats (audio, images, graphics) could be exported from Mus2. Files in MusicXML format, which is a world standard, can now be imported/exported with Mus2. Thus, works created with foreign software used before Mus2 can be imported into Mus2 without the need to rewrite them, and edits/modifications can be made on them. On the other hand, foreign software will also be able to open a work transferred from Mus2 to XML format. (The studies on this subject have also created an infrastructure for future transfers from PDF format).
XML operations can be done with “Export” and “Import” menu items.

EXPORT
“File” = “File” in Mus2 after the work is completed> “Export” => The file must be transferred from the “XML File…” slice.

IMPORT
“File” = “File” to import an XML format file into Mus2> “Import” => The “XML File…” slice should be used.

The bottom of the window will look like the following. If there are files in *.xml format in the opened folder, such files will be listed in the window. After selecting the desired file from the list, click the “Open” button.

To give you an idea;
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> <!DOCTYPE score-partwise PUBLIC "-//Recordare/DTD MusicXML 4.0 Partwise//EN" <score-partwise version="4.0"> <identification> <encoding> <software>Finale v27.4 for Windows</software> <encoding-date>2025-06-30</encoding-date> <supports attribute="new-system" element="print" type="yes" value="yes"/> <supports attribute="new-page" element="print" type="yes" value="yes"/> <supports element="accidental" type="yes"/> <supports element="beam" type="yes"/> <supports element="stem" type="yes"/> </encoding> </identification> . . .
and continues in the form of a work will be transferred to the Mus2 screen. If there are any errors or omissions regarding the transferred work, the xml file and the original work file can be sent to [email protected].
Opening files in formats known to Mus2 (such as *.xml, *.mu2) can be done from the “Import” slice or from the “File” => “Open…” menu.
Open Mus2 file on Mac computers
Another update was made to the MAC version. In some versions of the macOS operating system, double-clicking on files created with Mus2 would launch Mus2 and open a blank page instead of the relevant artwork file. In such cases, the user could first run Mus2 and then open the artwork file with the File => Open menu. This problem has been fixed.
Windows protected your PC
When the installation file (Mus2, 3.3.1) is run on computers with Windows operating system, the following warning screen will appear. This warning is due to the manufacturer’s certificate not being recognized by Windows. The warning screen will disappear after a while after the installation file is started to be used.
Users who encounter the warning screen, when they click on the “More info” phrase on the screen that appears, will see “Publisher: DATA-SOFT BILGISAYAR HIZMETLERI VE TIC. LIMITED SIRKETI”
